Course Content

Introduction, Historical background. Theoretical foundations, Elements of Cognitive Psychology. Man and computer as interaction elements. Structural elements and inter-action styles. Analysis Levels of Interaction. Dialogue Modeling. Human-centric design on interactive systems. Requirement analysis. Scenario based design. Prototyping techniques. Design rules and directives. Evaluation Techniques (interviews, focus groups, cognitive walkthrough, etc.). Experimental evaluation at the laboratory. Hypothesis formulation. Intelligent Interfaces.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • design,
  • implement and evaluate effective and usable graphical computer interfaces,
  • describe and apply core theories, models and methodologies from the field of Human – Computer Interaction (HCI),
  • describe and discuss current research in the field of HCI.
